The Sixth Sunday after the Epiphany
February 13, 2022
We're glad & thankful you've come here to watch our service and worship the one true God!
SCRIPTURE READINGS
Old Testament: Jeremiah 17:5–8
Psalm: Psalm 1
Epistle: 1 Corinthians 15:1–20
Gospel: Luke 6:17–26
OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP
We are all very familiar with how clearly our worldly culture displays its definition of “the good life’. Of course, this will be on full display during the Super Bowl commercials on TV tonight, should you choose to watch. If you do watch, unfortunately you’ll also see many examples of God’s definitions of right & wrong corrupted by sin. You’ll also see all kinds of pagan idols and really bad humanist theology. But hey, enough of that for now.
The devil, the world and our sinful nature seduce us into these “good life” traps, and all of us chase after them. But throughout God’s word, including today’s gospel text, God tells us this is wrong, and is literally a matter of life and death! Chasing “the good life” brings death, but God gives you life in His kingdom!
