SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR THIS SERVICE

Gospel: Luke 6:27–38
OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP
The gospel text for today continues themes from last week and is challenging and often mis-understood. Jesus calls you, me, and all believers to radical living, standing against the influences we face from the devil, the world, and our own sinful natures. We’ll need to read this text with spiritual eyes and listen with spiritual ears.
But this text is far more than just a call to action. Jesus also shows us how real, tangible, and delightful our lives can be, living in the kingdom of God, and it all hinges on one word: mercy. Jesus shows us how acts of mercy, totally radical and unexpected in our current “cancel” culture, will shine the light of His love on people around us.
Jesus invites and calls us to baptized, radical, merciful living; let’s be about it!
