We worship together, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen

Greetings to each of you on this Lord's day!

In our Gospel lesson today, people had gathered in the Capernaum synagogue, where Jesus was teaching and healed a man with an unclean spirit.
"And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.”  Mark 1:27
The sermon theme for today was WHEN THE ONE TRUE AUTHORITY SPEAKS, WE ARE MADE CLEAN! Jesus spoke with authority many times during His earthly ministry, none more powerful than on the cross when He revealed "It is finished".  His work of saving us, of re-creating His creation was complete.  The perfect Sacrifice paid the price for all your sins.  THANKS BE TO GOD!

Memory verse from our Scripture readings this week:   Psalm 111:10

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;

all those who practice it have a good understanding.”

Stewardship verse from our Scripture readings this week:   1 Corinthians 8:6

“…yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.”

Our heavenly Father created us, and Jesus Christ saved us; all that we are and have are gifts from God.   Our generosity toward others springs forth, we give gladly and joyfully, in love and thankfulness.  Make our hearts so, O God!

We worship together, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen

Welcome to our Sunday morning worship service, January 24th, the third Sunday after Epiphany.

Jesus said:  "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men."  Mark 1:17
Jesus called His disciples, and He calls us also, to a life of "immersion learning"; following God's will and learning as we go along.  God forms and molds His children into exactly the disciples He needs them to be.  Pray that God would show you what "fishing nets" you might be holding onto, or what other things might be holding you back.
WHEN GOD IS CALLING, LIFE BECOMES AN IMMERSION EXPERIENCE!

STEWARDSHIP SCRIPTURE FOR THIS COMING WEEK:  Psalm 62:8
"Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”

Trust in God for all things, including for Him to provide for you all you need, so you can provide for others who need help!

Pilgrim Worship Sunday January 10, 2021

Pilgrim Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod)

Burton, Michigan

Hello Pilgrim family, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen

Welcome to our worship service for Sunday January 10th, the first Sunday after Epiphany on which we celebrate the Baptism of Our Lord.

OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP TODAY
Today we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus. Such a day is also a good time to remember our own Baptism. In Baptism, we are buried with Christ. We are united with Him in a death like His. In Baptism, we are also raised to new life as re-creations. As we are united to Christ in death, we will also be united with Him in resurrection when He returns and raises the dead.

STEWARDSHIP SCRIPTURE FOR THIS COMING WEEK     Romans 6:11

“So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin, and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

This is a fact, you know… you and I are dead to sin and alive to God!  Jesus Christ gave us this gift and the Holy Spirit stirs in us a deep and obedient love for our neighbors.  Can you & I die to the sins of greed, selfishness, pride which keep us from sharing generously with others?  Can you and I die to sins of mis-trust and weak faith, which cause us to doubt God will continue providing for us?  Yes, Yes to both!  Pray with me, that the Holy Spirt make all of us alive in our generous giving and serving Christ’s church and our neighbors!

Pilgrim Lutheran Worship Sunday January 3, 2021

Pilgrim Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod)

Burton, Michigan

Hello Pilgrim family, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Happy New Year!  No matter what happened in 2020, or what will happen in 2021, thanks be to God because we know He will comfort and care for us no matter what!

Welcome to our worship service for Sunday January 3rd, the second Sunday after Christmas.

OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP TODAY
Many unexpected things happened in 2020.  We are still dealing with many things we do not understand.  All of us, in some way or another, want to know what to expect, what will happen next.  And so, many of us have been very disappointed in the year past, and are very anxious about the year ahead.  But, we can take heart!  We can be encouraged by this fact:  BECAUSE GOD DOES THE UNEXPECTED, WE  KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO EXPECT.

STEWARDSHIP SCRIPTURE FOR THIS COMING WEEK
"Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?"  1 Kings 3:9

Of all the gifts God has given you, do you think about this really important gift very often?  Neither you nor I are a king like Solomon, but we too should pray for this gift and then use it and all other gifts for the glory of God, the Giver.
