Pilgrim Worship, Sunday February 14, 2021

Transfiguration of Christ         by Luca Giordano (Naples 1634 - 1705)

Pilgrim Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod)

Burton, Michigan

We worship together, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Greetings to each of you on this Lord's day!

Theme for Worship Today
There is nothing quite like being an eyewitness, specially chosen to experience an amazing event.   Has this ever happened to you?  Peter writes about being on the Mount of Transfiguration as he, James, and John were privileged to have a special vision of the Lord Jesus Christ.   They saw Jesus, transfigured, along with Moses and Elijah, and heard God the Father speak “This is My beloved Son; listen to Him!”  Today, through the words of Scripture, we, too, become eyewitnesses and are given a glimpse of glory in the vision of our transfigured Lord!  You and I, we are not Moses nor Peter, but Jesus Christ brings us along too!

Memory verse from our Scripture readings this week:   Psalm 50:6

“The heavens declare His righteousness, for God Himself is Judge!”

Stewardship verse from our Scripture readings this week:   Mark 9:7

“This is My beloved Son; listen to Him.”

God speaks to us every day through His Word and prayer; listen to Him!  In His speaking and acting, every day we see and receive and experience His amazing love and generous blessings.  God also speaks to us, calling us to be generous and loving to our neighbors.  How can we be stingy and care-less, when God is just the opposite with us every hour of every day?  Help us, O Lord, to be more like You!  Amen.
