Pilgrim Worship Sunday April 6, 2025

Pilgrim Lutheran Church

The Fifth Sunday in Lent

April 6, 2025

We're thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!

This was another exciting Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church!  Once again, we had lots of great activities going on, starting with our Adult Bible study at 9:15 am, then our 10:30 am Worship service.  Afterward, we gathered for food and conversations, while the children enjoyed Sunday School.  These classes are full of activities and teaching, so the children learn how much God loves them!

If you live in the Burton area, please consider joining us on Sunday mornings!  Anyone can watch our services live on Facebook or later on Pilgrim's website.

Here is information about this worship service:

BIBLE READINGS
  Old Testament:  Isaiah 43:16-21
               Psalm:  Psalm 126
              Epistle:  Philippians 3:8-14
              Gospel:  Luke 20:9-20

OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP
Can you name the only two parables which appear in all three Synoptic […not John] Gospels?  You choose wisely if you include The Parable of the Wicked Tenants from today’s Gospel reading.  In this important and well-known parable, Jesus tells the very people who will kill Him, that they will kill Him!  We can feel the tension and confrontation between Jesus & the Jewish rulers, which has been strengthening for many months.  This will reach the parable’s climax when the beloved Son is killed outside the vineyard on Good Friday’s cross.  There is much sin, judgement and condemnation in this text, all of which reminds us of our own arrogance and misuse of God’s gifts.  So where is the good news for you & me?
