This coming Sunday the Church commemorates the Last Sunday of the Church Year. We're almost at the end of the long and dusty road of Jesus' salvation work; to the end of Jesus' earthly ministry, to the end of our own lives and to the end of all time when Jesus majestically will return to earth.
As we look at our lives and the world around ourselves in these last days, we see so much that frightens and worries us. Yet, God shows us something very different. This psalm confidently confesses something very important to you. The one true God, who loves you forever, reigns powerfully and eternally over all things! What greater encouragement can you have than that?
Psalm 93
1 The Lord reigns; He is robed in majesty;
the Lord is robed; He has put on strength as His belt.
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
2 Your throne is established from of old;
You are from everlasting.
3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their roaring.
4 Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
mightier than the waves of the sea,
the Lord on high is mighty!
5 Your decrees are very trustworthy;
holiness befits Your house, O Lord, forevermore.
The Lord reigns! He's totally & completely in charge! He is coming back, and soon! His creation shall never be moved, from everlasting to everlasting. He promises to create a new heaven and a new earth on the Last Day when He returns, which shall never be moved.
No matter how difficult things may become in your life and/or in the world around you, you are strengthened by The Lord who reigns over your life today and forever!
Heavenly Father, despite the evil & destruction we see and experience around us, keep us strong in faith and confident in Your power and care over all things. AMEN.
