BIBLE READINGS FOR THIS SERVICE
  Old Testament:  Isaiah 11:1–10
              Gospel:  Matthew 3:1–12

OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP
This part of God's Word given to Isaiah is a very traditional Christmas reading, because it paints a hopeful picture of peace on earth.  Christmas is a time of hope; a powerful emotion in our human experience.  Hope keeps us looking forward and can pull us from a difficult place to a better one.  But we often become hopeless, because of the sickness you might be facing, the broken relationship which has you trapped or the divisive and hateful world around us.  As hopeless as our world is, this picture in Isaiah seems almost comical.  Even for Christians, this is a picture of eternal life in heaven, but is there some hope for us now, living as we do today?
Come and hear some good news, news of hope for you today!
