Thursday Psalms: Your Shame Removed!

David’s prayer of thanksgiving is a beautiful prayer that invites all believers to trust in God for deliverance and give thanks to Him.

Psalm 34:1-8

¹ I will bless the Lord at all times;

      His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

² My soul makes its boast in the Lord;

      let the humble hear and be glad.

³ Oh, magnify the Lord with me,

      and let us exalt His name together!

⁴ I sought the Lord, and He answered me

      and delivered me from all my fears.

⁵ Those who look to Him are radiant,

      and their faces shall never be ashamed.

⁶ This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him

      and saved him out of all his troubles.

⁷ The angel of the Lord encamps

      around those who fear Him, and delivers them.

⁸ Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!

      Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! 

Check out the deliverance God gives you in verse five.  Shame is such a powerful & defeating force.  It's often more than just an emotion; shame can change lives, shame can completely alter one's physical and/or emotional health.  All shame comes from sin, either directly or indirectly.  How can you and I be set free from shame?  How can we never be ashamed?

The Lord delivers you from all your fears, from your shame, from your sins!  Simply seek the Lord in prayer, confessing your sins and asking for His forgiveness.  God forgives your sins and removes them from you, as far as the east is from the west [Psalm 103:12]!  With God's forgiveness of your sins, your shame & guilt are also removed!

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!  You are blessed when you refuge in Him!

We're thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!

This was another exciting Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church!  Once again, we had lots of great activities going on, starting with our Adult Bible study at 9:00 am, then our 10:00 am Worship service.  Afterward, we gathered for food and conversations, while the children enjoyed Sunday School.  These classes are full of activities and teaching, so the children learn how much God loves them!

OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP
Who are these people of Israel described in the Old Testament text?  They are grumblers and complainers.  They are a congregation of the ungrateful.  They have rejected the LORD who miraculously rescued them and has always provided for them.  They’re driven by their selfish wants & needs.   Who are these people of Israel?  They are you & me!

Thursday Psalms: Call On Him!

Are you "falling" or "bowed down" today?  Even if you're not, in these psalm verses the Lord encourages & reminders you of His great love & actions for you!

Psalm 145:14-20

¹⁴ The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down.

¹⁵ The eyes of all look to You,

        and You give them their food in due season.

¹⁶ You open Your hand;

        You satisfy the desire of every living thing.

¹⁷ The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His works.

¹⁸ The Lord is near to all who call on Him,

        to all who call on Him in truth.

¹⁹ He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him;

        He also hears their cry and saves them.

²⁰ The Lord preserves all who love Him,

        but all the wicked He will destroy.

No matter what struggle you're facing today, look at verse 18.  Call on the Lord, who is near to you!  He hears your cries and saves you [verse 19]!

God is so great; He owes us nothing yet gives us everything!  There is no other person or god like Him anywhere!  In Romans 10:13 God tells us "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."  What a great promise for you, a promise you can trust in and cling to in times of trouble and peace!  

Call on the Lord right now!
