Pilgrim Worship Sunday November 9, 2025

Pilgrim Lutheran Church

The Twenty-Second Sunday after Pentecost

November 9, 2025

We're thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!

This was another exciting Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church!  We've returned to our regular Sunday schedule, starting with Adult Bible class at 9:15 am and then our 10:30 am Worship service.  Afterward, we gathered for food and conversations, while the children enjoyed Sunday School.  These classes are full of activities and teaching, so the children learn how much God loves them!

If you live in the Burton area, please consider joining us on Sunday mornings!  Anyone can watch our services live on Facebook or on Pilgrim's website.

Here is information about this worship service:

SCRIPTURE Readings
                Psalm:   Psalm 148
               Epistle:   2 Thessalonians 2:1–8, 13–17
               Gospel:   Luke 20:27–40

THEME FOR WORSHIP

There’s a common understanding among people which grows as our years increase.  Things aren’t always what they appear to be.  Further investigation is often needed to make sense of the thing.  We’re often like Chicken Little, who is convinced “The sky is falling!” until the wise king teaches him things aren’t always what they appear to be.

In today’s Old Testament reading, Moses investigates a bush on fire and finds it to be something far different than what it appeared to be.  From this burning bush, YAHWEH, the great I AM sends Moses back to Egypt to bring God’s people out of slavery & bondage.

During the struggles of your life, God often seems to be something other than what you want or expect. Today God also speaks to you from this burning bush, proclaiming the good news of who He is and how much He loves you!
