Blessed Thursday to each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, your Savior!
We've all seen better days. No, seriously.
Whether you're enduring sickness, economic decline or simply getting older, many of you will agree that "things were better back then", whenever that may have been. Many of you may also agree that "these days" are more sinful, evil, violent and frightening than even a year ago. Looking around, both within your daily life and beyond, we would all agree we need some help getting through the hard things we suffer. Perhaps today you're joining with the psalmist and asking "From
where does my help come?"
Psalm 121
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From
where does my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
who
made heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot be moved;
He
who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
will
neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your
keeper;
the
Lord is your shade on your right
hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor
the moon by night.
7 The Lord will
keep you from all evil;
He
will keep your life.
8 The Lord will
keep your going out and your coming in
from
this time forth and forevermore.
Your good news today is clear and simple. Your help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The Lord supports you when you're standing against harm, not letting you be moved. The Lord keeps you from harm and danger; He keeps you in His love and forgiveness. The Lord shades and protects you from disasters, both natural and man-caused. The Lord keeps you from evil, strengthens you against temptations and restores you with His forgiveness. Especially powerful, the Lord keeps your entire life, so that the evil one, Satan, can not pull you away.
Give thanks to the Lord today, right now, that He is your helper, your keeper, your protector and your Savior! His love & protection for you is true always, from this time forth and forevermore!
