Pilgrim Lutheran Church
The Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost
October 6, 2024
We're thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!
This was another exciting Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church! Once again, we had lots of great activities going on, starting with our Adult Bible study at 9:15 am, then our 10:30 am Worship service. Afterward, we gathered for food and conversations, while the children enjoyed Sunday School. These classes are full of activities and teaching, so the children learn how much God loves them!
If you live in the Burton area, please consider joining us on Sunday mornings! Anyone can watch our services live on Facebook or later on Pilgrim's website.
Here is information about this worship service:
BIBLE READINGS FOR SUNDAY
Old Testament: Genesis 2:18–25
Psalm: Psalm 128
Epistle: Hebrews 2:1–13
Gospel: Mark 10:2–16
Epistle: Hebrews 2:1–13
Gospel: Mark 10:2–16
OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP
Our Old Testament reading begins with some of the most merciful words from God in the book of Genesis: “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” God did not create you or I to be alone in this world! Instead, we were made for relationships with others. God then created & defined the relationship of marriage, one He Himself demonstrates in His selfless love for His bride, the Christian Church on earth. But along came the evil serpent, who led Adam & Eve into sin, which separates us from almost everything good in our lives. So, what are we to do with Jesus’ statement in today’s Gospel where He states: “What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”?
