The Third Sunday in Lent
March 3, 2024
We're thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!
This was another exciting Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church! Once again, we had lots of great activities going on, starting with our Adult Bible study at 9:15 am, then our 10:30 am Worship service. Afterward, we gathered for food and conversations, while the children enjoyed Sunday School. These classes are full of activities and teaching, so the children learn how much God loves them!
If you live in the Burton area, please consider joining us on Sunday mornings! Anyone can watch our services live on Facebook or later on Pilgrim's website.
Here is information about this worship service:
BIBLE READINGS FOR SUNDAY
Old Testament: Exodus 20:1–17
Psalm: Psalm 19
Epistle: 1 Corinthians 1:18–31
Gospel: John 2:13–22
Epistle: 1 Corinthians 1:18–31
Gospel: John 2:13–22
OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP
Held captive by the Old Testament reading, we must ask ourselves some hard questions. What is your God? All of us have gods over which we obsess, gods we worship, gods we trust to provide for us. God reminds us today “I am the LORD your God…” The one and only true God who “…brought you out of slavery” requires our undivided devotion. To help us with this difficult task, God has given us His law, for our good. Even though we don’t much care for laws, God’s Law is really good for us!
