The First Sunday in Advent
December 3, 2023
We're thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!
This was another exciting Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church! Once again, we had lots of great activities going on, starting with our Adult Bible study at 9:15 am, then our 10:30 am Worship service. Afterward, we gathered for food and conversations, while the children enjoyed Sunday School. These classes are full of activities and teaching, so the children learn how much God loves them!
If you live in the Burton area, please consider joining us on Sunday mornings! Anyone can watch our services live on Facebook or later on Pilgrim's website.
Here is information about today's worship service:

OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP
Today a new church year begins, and we begin another year of life. We focus on the life of Jesus from Advent through His ascension to heaven, and then on the life of His Church, from Pentecost to His final return. The Latin adventus described the arrival of a person of great power and dignity, like a king or emperor. For Christians, Advent is a time when we prepare for the coming of the Great King, Jesus, the Christ. Advent and the church year it begins both remind us that Jesus is truly centered in all of world history, a history which is going somewhere which God has ordained and controls. Our lives are not aimless and self-centered experiences; we are part of God’s Church. God has made us part of Jesus, His Son.
