The Twenty-fourth Sunday after Pentecost
November 12, 2023
We're thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!
This was another exciting Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church! Once again, we had lots of great activities going on, starting with our 9:30 am Worship service. Afterward, we gathered for food, conversations, and Adult Bible study, while the children enjoyed Sunday School. These classes are full of activities and teaching, so the children learn how much God loves them!
If you live in the Burton area, please consider joining us on Sunday mornings! Anyone can watch our services live on Facebook or later on Pilgrim's website.
Here is information about today's worship service:
BIBLE READINGS FOR TODAY
Old Testament: Amos 5:18–24

Epistle: 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18
Gospel: Matthew 25:1–13
Psalm: Psalm 70
Epistle: 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18
Gospel: Matthew 25:1–13
OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP TODAY
Today is the third-to-last Sunday in this church year; our attention focuses even more clearly on the Parousia, the day of Jesus’ physical return to His earth. Christ will return suddenly and without warning, coming in glory and victory, to destroy, to judge and to rescue. Today Jesus gives us one of many “kingdom of heaven” parables, picturing Himself as the Bridegroom who is delayed in coming, but arrives as promised. The foolish are unprepared and will remain outside. The wise are ready, and Jesus will take them in with Him!
