Washing of the Feet, DUCCIO di Buoninsegna, 1308-1311
Pilgrim Lutheran Church
Maundy Thursday
April 6, 2023
We're thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!
Today we celebrate Maundy
Thursday, most well-known as a commemoration of our Savior’s initiation of holy
communion. Ironically, the name “Maundy”
came from the Latin translation of John
13:34, a
verse in today’s gospel reading: “Mandatum novum do vobis” [“a new commandment I give to you”].
This new commandment is to love one another, as Jesus
has loved us. Jesus demonstrated His
love for His disciples in the simple action of washing their feet, which points
to so much more. Jesus gives to us the
ultimate & greatest love: Jesus laid
down His life on Calvary’s cross to forgive you all your sins.
Old Testament: Exodus 12:1–14
Psalm: Psalm 116:12–19
Epistle: 1 Corinthians 11:23–32
Gospel: John 13:1–17, 31–35
If you live in the Burton area, please consider joining us on Sunday mornings, especially this coming Easter Sunday! We have two worship services and a free Easter breakfast in between:
Easter Sunrise worship service at 8:30 am
Easter Breakfast & Fellowship from 9:45am - 10:45am
Easter Day worship service at 11:00am

Peace in Christ, our loving, serving Savior,
