Reformation Sunday

October 30, 2022

We're thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!

This was another exciting Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church!  Once again, we had lots of great activities going on, starting with our 10:30 am Worship Service.  Afterward, we gathered for food, conversations, and Adult Bible study, while the children enjoyed Sunday School.  These classes are full of activities and teaching, so the children learn how much God loves them!

If you live in the Burton area, please consider joining us on Sunday mornings!

Here is information about today's worship service:

SCRIPTURE READINGS
   First Reading:   Revelation 14:6-7
               Psalm:   Psalm 46
              Epistle:   Romans 3:19-28
              Gospel:   John 8:31-36

OUR THEME FOR WORSHIP
In Romans 3:19-20, the apostle Paul completes his argument about God’s Law, which only reveals our sins and cannot save us from them.  All humanity of all time is judged and damned by the Law.  “But…” Paul begins in verse 21, and like a bright spotlight piercing through the foggy darkness, the saving gospel of Jesus Christ could not shine more brightly!  “…we are justified by His grace as a gift…” [v24a].

In this service we'll celebrate these great gifts from God:  we learn through Scripture alone, that we are saved by grace alone and faith alone.   We'll also celebrate God’s humble and faithful servant, Martin Luther, who God used to bring these truths back to light amid the darkness of the 16th century.

Peace to you on this, the Lord's Day!
