The Ninth Sunday after Pentecost
August 7, 2022
We're thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!
This was another exciting Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church! Once again, we had lots of great activities going on, starting with our 10:30 am Worship Service. Afterward, we gathered for food, conversations, and Adult Bible study, while the children enjoyed Sunday School. These classes are full of activities and teaching, so the children learn how much God loves them!
If you live in the Burton area, please consider joining us on Sunday mornings!
Here is information about todays worship service:
SCRIPTURE READINGS
Old Testament: Genesis 15:1–6
Psalm: Psalm 33:12–22

Gospel: Luke 12:22–34
THEME FOR WORSHIP
In the last few years, we’ve all experienced powerful forces up-end, re-structure and re-order our lives. We buy stuff differently, we navigate supply chain shortages, and we confront political divisions and hatred all around us. Violence is now tolerated, even encouraged as a perversion of “justice”. Many more examples abound.
But there is another powerful disrupter, one which also up-ends and re-orders our lives: love. We’ve all seen or experienced loving re-ordering in newly married couples, the arrival of a first baby or the removal of guilt and shame when sins are forgiven.
In the Gospel text today, Jesus teaches us how the Father’s extravagant love provides your needs and gives you the kingdom. If you have not yet had your life upended by God’s love, get ready for the best reordering you will ever experience!
Peace to you on this, the Lord's Day!
