Pilgrim Worship Sunday June 26, 2022

 Pilgrim Lutheran Church

The Third Sunday after Pentecost

June 26, 2022

We're glad & thankful you've come here to watch our service and to worship the one true God!

This was another exciting Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church!  Once again, we had lots of great activities going on, starting with our 10:30 am Worship Service.  Afterward, we gathered for food and conversations, while the children enjoyed Sunday School.  These classes are full of activities and teaching, so the children learn how much God loves them!

If you live in the Burton area, please consider joining us for any or all of these weekly events!

Here is information about todays worship service:

SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR THIS SERVICE
   Old Testament: 1 Kings 19:9b–21
               Epistle:  Galatians 5:1, 13–25
               Gospel:  Luke 9:51–62

OUR THEME FOR THIS SERVICE
The world in which we live is fast-paced and information-overloaded, with far more things demanding attention than we can possibly even understand.  As a result, we well understand the danger of distractions.  We’re constantly tempted to look this way or that, to attend to this shiny new object or another, and we neglect other things which are much more important.  We know the consequences of distractions can be deadly.

In Sunday's gospel text, Jesus and His followers confront several distraction examples.  Like them, we spend much of our lives standing at the intersection of distraction and discipleship.  Follow Me, Jesus invites, but so often we follow the bright and shiny distractions down other roads.  How does God help us in these choices?

Peace to you on this, the Lord's Day!
